TRUTH IN MONITORING
Blue Sky created the first true 2.1 integrated 3-way monitoring system; which is the only way to reproduce program material exactly as recorded, with all of the nuance, warmth, richness and visceral impact that high-resolution professional recording formats can capture.
This approach also provides the most logical upgrade path to multi-channel surround.
REINVENTING THE WAY WE LISTEN
Unlike other systems where a subwoofer is added on as an afterthought, Blue Sky uses two satellite speakers with a subwoofer as an integral part of the system. Both the SAT's and SUB use specific crossover and a bass management networks to create a seamless spectral experience.
PUTTING THE BASS WHERE IT NEEDS TO BE
To optimize bass reproduction in typical studios and make it possible to reduce the effect of standing waves, we embraced the concept of Bass Management. This approach uses electronic filters to extract the low frequency information (typically below 80Hz) from the main channels, re-routing it to the dedicated subwoofer for optimum reproduction. Because the low frequencies originate only from the subwoofer as single source, it can be positioned for optimum bass reproduction in any monitoring environment. And, because the satellite speakers no longer have to handle lower frequencies, they can be reduced in size and easily placed for optimum imaging and coverage.
MULTI-CHANNEL AUDIO IS NOT JUST THE FUTURE
Even though multi-channel surround sound has been around for years in the film industry, it’s becoming increasingly clear that today’s consumers have the technology and the desire to listen to and experience multi-channel content in film, music, television and multi-media formats of all types. In fact, it is nearly impossible to purchase a home audio system without multi-channel surround sound. Dolby® reports selling over 25 Million 5.1-channel Dolby Digital decoders in home receivers, a number that continues to climb daily.
Blue Sky’s founders have decades of experience in developing monitoring systems specifically designed to meet the specific needs and industry standards of multi-channel audioThey’ve come up with a simple, elegant and flexible solution, which provides you and your clients with a highly accurate, full-range and powerful surround monitoring system. Start with a 2.1 system and upgrade easily, by adding three more SAT's and a BMC (Bass Management Controller). Proper installation & calibration of all Blue Sky systems are documented in great detail and beyerdynamic are there to support you throughout the entire process.

Blue Sky Monitors gave 2003's Blockbusters A New Dimension Of Sound Quality
Finding Nemo, The Hulk, and other top titles posted at the legendary Skywalker Sound®
postproduction facility all have editorial Blue Sky monitoring in common
FARMINGDALE, NY,
Some of 2003’s biggest blockbuster films, including The Hulk, Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life, and Finding Nemo, passed through the portals of the world-renowned Skywalker Sound® audio postproduction facility, a Lucasfilm Ltd. company. In each and every case, their audio editorial was posted and monitored through Blue Sky’s Sky System One 5.1 and 2.1 systems. The result is amazing sound that captures the audio essence of cinema, ranging from larger-than-life fantasy films such as director Ang Lee’s The Hulk to animated features such as Finding Nemo. Skywalker Sound, home to the production and postproduction of hundreds of film soundtracks and scores, switched virtually its entire editorial monitoring complement to Blue Sky monitoring systems last year. The facility, part of the Skywalker Ranch compound, now has five Blue Sky 5.1 systems and over 50 Blue Sky 2.1 monitoring systems in place.
“Blue Sky has become the standard here,” says Rollin Feld, Director of Operations at Skywalker Ranch. “We’ve used
it on every one of our films this year, and all of them sound great. The Blue Sky systems have given us a consistency that’s enhanced our ability to bring a film’s audio to a new level.” Feld recalls that audio editorial at Skywalker Sound had at one time used various types of speakers, which often resulted in inconsistent sound quality between editing suites. “You would have a sound designer cut a given effect and want to listen to it in the context of a track at an editing station,” he explains. “However, we’d often find that when using different types of monitors, the sound of an effect a designer created in one suite wasn’t necessarily the same in another suite. There would be a lot of running back and forth between studios in search of consistent monitoring references. Acquiring the Blue Sky systems has resolved that issue once and for all. All of our editing is now done through the Blue Sky speakers, and we and our clients know that we’re delivering a consistent and consistently good sound editorial product to them every time.”
Blue Sky International was founded, and is jointly owned by Group One Ltd. and Audio Design Labs Inc. The company was established by combining the marketing and sales expertise of Group One with Audio Design Lab’s award-winning design team. Blue Sky International currently produces the Sky System One and ProDesk monitoring systems, which provide full range, accurate sound at extremely high output levels while offering exceptional value to the professional user.

Skywalker Sound® Reaches For Blue Sky Monitoring in a Big Way
Citing great sound and great value, legendary sound-for-picture facility outfits multiple
digital audio suites with 47 of the acclaimed Blue Sky monitoring systems
113th AES CONVENTION, LOS ANGELES, CA, October 5, 2002 Skywalker Sound®, a division of Lucas Digital Ltd. LLC and home to the production and post production of hundreds of great film soundtracks and scores, has purchased and installed 47 Blue Sky monitoring systems to serve many of its sound editorial post production suites. Five Blue Sky 5.1 monitoring systems, incorporating the critically acclaimed Bass Management Controller (BMC), join the array of Blue Sky 2.1 monitors now stationed at Skywalker Sound. The installations were completed earlier this year, and since then the Blue Sky systems have provided excellent audio throughout the Skywalker Sound facility, during such productions as A.I. Artificial Intelligence, Panic Room, and Minority Report.
Rollin Feld, Director of Facility Operations at Skywalker Sound, cited several reasons for the choice of Blue Sky 2.1 monitors on a such an extensive scale. “One of our acoustic engineers here approached me about the Blue Sky monitors, and when I took a closer look, it was apparent they offered us a very cost-effective way to achieve a high degree of sonic consistency throughout the facility,” Feld explains. “Before getting the Blue Sky systems, we used many different monitors on our digital audio workstations, which means operators could only work on workstations with speakers they were familiar with. For the sake of efficiency and consistency, we wanted to standardize our audio platforms. The Blue Sky monitors offered us a high quality speaker at an extremely good price, which exactly fit our monitoring needs.”
Such a large implementation of a single system took several weeks to realize, but Feld notes the installations went smoothly, with no disruption of workflow, and the results have been superb. “They’re cost-effective, THX®-certified, plus they are great-sounding, too,” he states. “In the end, that’s the most important thing.”
