beyerdynamic microphones were chosen for the celebration of the Queens 80th birthday concert held at Her Majesty The Queen’s private estate of Balmoral Castle.
This event was the first of its kind ever held at this prestigious venue and featured world renowned classical singer Katherine Jenkins, accompanied by the Aberdeen Sinfonietta symphony orchestra. This ‘Truly Scottish Evening’ featured many top artists such as the Scottish Fiddle Orchestra; singer, songwriter and broadcaster Fiona Kennedy; Celtic Scottish Dancers, Mass Pipes & Drums; the Graham Geddes Scottish Dance Band and the Bon Accord Silver Brass Band. Presented by BBC Radio 2's Ken Bruce, the live performance took place on 30th June in the beautiful grounds of Balmoral Castle, located in Royal Deeside in the shadows of Lochnagar. This beautiful estate has been a private residence to the British Royal Family since 1848.
FOH operations was organised by Rick Lawson of Funtime Audio Visual. “The event was a great success,’ commented Rick, ’and we had many compliments. Even Ms Jenkins commented on how good the sound was, and I am sure that was due to the investment we made on microphones with beyer prior to the event. I used beyer MC 740 condensers for over-heads, MC 930 condensers for the closer instruments, Opus 82 clip-on condensers for brass and Opus 51 boundary microphone for piano. The sound was amazing”.
