Mills Music on the move with DYNACORD Cobra

Mills Music’s Ric Webb recently used the rig to reinforce three very different regional events over three days: on Friday a large high school graduation in Seattle, on Saturday a large outdoor community fundraising concert event in eastern Washington (“Unite the Schools” in Tri-Cities), and on Sunday back home for a sold-out rock date with guitar legend Michael Schenker at Studio Seven.

“It was a mixed bag, but we had it covered with consistently impressive sound and hassle-free setup, teardown and transit,” says Webb. “This system is built around a DYNACORD Cobra-2 line-array system, with EV amps, monitors and mics, a Midas Venice 320 mixing console and Klark Teknik Square One EQs and Dynamics—it’s proving unbeatable for a really wide range of events and venues.”

“On Friday we used the rig for large scale public address at a high school graduation,” Webb explains, “every seat heard every word loud and clear—simple but effective. After a six-hour drive across the state to Tri-Cities, on Saturday we saw a diverse bill that represented all the ethnic groups in their community, with everything from Polynesian music to clog dancing, closing with a regional rock band. On Sunday we were back in Seattle at Studio Seven for the Michael Schenker Group. We occasionally bring the Cobra system in to boost their in-house system for bigger shows. Cobra is perfect for that, as the sightlines stay open and every corner gets covered—it’s line-array performance made easy. And, sure enough, Cobra rocked the house; their in-house engineer flips out every time we bring the systems in—he can actually hear his mix!”

“There’s a reason we’re getting serious mileage out of this system,” Webb adds. “Ground-stacked or flown, the Cobra is plug and play all the way, with incredible throw and coverage for such a small footprint.”
